In Victoria there are currently two University housing qualifications; both run by Swinburne.

Graduate Certificate in Social Science (Housing Management and Policy)

The Graduate Certificate in Housing Management and Policy is a postgraduate professional qualification which provides knowledge and skills in research, policy development and systems of housing management. This course is designed for people working in the public and community housing sectors and related industries, such as real estate and property development. Click here for more information.

Graduate Diploma in in Social Science (Housing Management and Policy). 

The Graduate Diploma in Housing Management and Policy is a postgraduate professional qualification which provides knowledge and skills in research, policy development and systems of housing management. The course builds on material in the Graduate Certificate in Housing Management and Policy.

This program is designed for administrators, housing managers (public, not-for-profit and private real estate), coordinators, team leaders and research and policy workers in the public and community sectors who wish to improve their knowledge of, and skills in, housing management. Click here for more information.

Both are recognised by the Australasian Housing Institute.

Both courses are distance education/flexible delivery and are taught across Australia and New Zealand.

 

There are no specific housing courses offered through Victorian TAFEs.

CHC40912 Certificate IV in Social Housing

The Certificate IV in Social Housing CHC40912 is a qualification to build the skills and knowledge of workers in the social housing field, including community housing, public housing, Aboriginal housing and supported accommodation providers. The course provides a bigger picture of the social housing environment which includes legislative, regulatory, historical and philosophical frameworks. The course also provides knowledge and skills development in the tasks required to provide social housing management.

As a vocational qualification the Certificate IV in Social Housing: offers training drawn directly from experience, research and skills in the social housing sector provides knowledge that is strongly industry based provides information that focuses on best practice in the community and social housing sector provides the opportunity for skills development, professional reflection and building networks with peers in the community and social housing field.
